About Mohammad Azim Qureshi (Rahimahullah)
Mohammad Azim Qureshi (Rahimahullah)
1939 – Houston, Texas
Mohammad Azim Qureshi (Rahimahullah) was born on October 19, 1939, in Agra, India. After the establishment of Pakistan, his family migrated in 1947 to Karachi. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from N.E.D. University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, in 1968.
His career took him from Karachi to Libya, then to the blessed city of Makkah, where he worked at the Makkah Power House and lived in proximity to the Sacred Mosque. He later retired in Houston, Texas, where he joined his family.
In his retirement years, he devoted himself to studying the Qur'an, Hadith, and Islamic knowledge — work that inspired him to compile Simple Deeds and Easy Path to Paradise, so that ordinary Muslims could find practical ways to seek Allah's pleasure in everyday life. These books are shared in his memory with the hope that they continue to benefit others and become a source of Sadaqah Jariyah for him, Insha'Allah.
Professional Life
After completing his education, Mohammad Azim Qureshi (Rahimahullah) began his career with Karachi Electric Supply Corporation Limited, where he worked for approximately four years.
He later moved to Benghazi, Libya, where he worked for about seven years in a leadership role at a power house.
During this period, he had the opportunity to perform Hajj and visit Makkah and Madinah. The experience left a deep spiritual impression on him and strengthened his desire to live and work in Saudi Arabia.
That desire was eventually fulfilled when he received employment at the Makkah Power House. Living in Makkah gave him the blessing of being close to the Sacred Mosque and also allowed him opportunities to visit Madinah.
When his father's health deteriorated, he returned to Karachi to care for him. He later worked as a consultant engineer with Pakistan Engineering Services Limited and also served as Director of Solid Waste Management at Karachi Municipal Corporation.
Following his father's passing, he returned to Saudi Arabia and continued his professional career there.
Life in the United States
In the early 1990s, his family began establishing their lives in Houston, Texas. After retiring from his career in Saudi Arabia in 2001, Mohammad Azim Qureshi (Rahimahullah) moved permanently to Houston to join his family.
In the United States, he later worked with General Electric (GE) for several years before retiring.
Throughout his professional life, he remained grateful to Allah سبحانه وتعالى for the opportunities, experiences, and blessings he received, especially the education and success of his children and the ability to establish a new life with his family.
His Love for Islam and Beneficial Knowledge
From an early age, Mohammad Azim Qureshi (Rahimahullah) maintained a strong connection with the masjid, the Qur'an, Islamic learning, and religious study.
During his retirement years, he devoted increasing amounts of his time to studying the Qur'an and its interpretation, the lives of the Prophets and Messengers, Hadith, Islamic beliefs, and other areas of Islamic knowledge.
He believed that learning Islam is a lifelong journey and that no matter how much a person studies, there is always more to learn.
Over time, these studies inspired him to compile his work Simple Deeds and Easy Path to Paradise.
The idea behind the book came from a practical reflection on everyday life. Much of a person's time is occupied by sleep, work, family responsibilities, travel, meals, and other daily activities. He therefore wanted to identify simple deeds that require relatively little time but may carry great reward, while emphasizing that a Muslim must first fulfill the essential obligations of Islam.
With this intention, and after seeking religious guidance, he gathered beneficial teachings from the Qur'an and Sunnah and presented them in a form that could be easily understood and practiced by ordinary Muslims.
His work was first written in Urdu and later translated into English so that more people could benefit from it.
His goal was not recognition, but benefit. He hoped that readers would strengthen their relationship with Allah سبحانه وتعالى, increase their good deeds, and find practical ways to seek His pleasure in their everyday lives.
